ZynBit 2020 installs using a simple install wizard. Generally, users with no IT background are able to self-install. In the case of organizations where software is managed for users by the IT staff, however, additional considerations may apply. This article is intended for IT admins who are installing the Com add-in for multiple users, frequently while logged in remotely from another machine.
1) ZynBit 2018 and 2020 will load in parallel so that customers can easily UAT. To use both, simply install 2020 without uninstalling 2018. Having both clients may ease the transition for some users. The version of the client to be installed by new users downloading from the app.zynbit.com dashboard can be controlled by the ZynBit admin for each organization using these instructions.
2) ZynBit 2020 has different pre-req’s than prior versions, and the installer will try to install the pre-reqs. When performing mass deployments, however, we recommend ensuring the pre-req’s are in place and published prior to upgrading to ZynBit 2020. Some pre-req’s may require one or more reboots and this can be disruptive to the install process, especially when machine users are not local admins. The pre-req’s for ZynBit 2020 are as follows:
C++ 14 Runtime
Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
3) For mass deployment of 2020, you should uninstall the 2018 version unless you want both versions running side by side.
4) As with all add-ins, if the machine user is not a local admin, you may be most successful installing the plug-in for “Just Me” instead of “For all Users” on the second page of the install wizard. The need to do this is dependent of security configurations outside ZynBit control.
